filesea does not have user accounts for visitors and does not sell personal data. This page explains the little we do collect.

What we collect
Searches
We keep the words you search for, the number of results, and any filters you used, so we can improve search and see what people look for. Searches are not linked to your name, account or IP address.
Clicks
When you open a file through our leaving page, we count the click against that file. The count is anonymous; it helps rank popular files higher.
Reports
When you report a broken link, we store a small cookie (fs_rep) listing the files you reported, so the same visitor cannot report a file twice. It lasts 30 days and holds nothing else.
Copyright notices
If you send a copyright notice, we keep the name, email address, company and details you give us, to process the notice and keep a record of it. We may share a copy of the notice with the person or site that shared the link, or with organisations that collect such notices (such as Lumen), with your email address removed.
File requests
If you ask us to watch for a file, we keep your email address only to send you one email when it turns up. We delete it 30 days after that email, or when the request expires after 90 days. Every email has a link to cancel.
Followed searches
If you follow a search, we keep your email address and the search to send you at most one email a day with new matches. Nothing is sent until you confirm, unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after a week, and every email has a link to stop.
API keys
If you get an API key, we keep the name, email and website you give us to run the key and to contact you about it. We store a scrambled form of the key, not the key itself.
Contact messages
Messages sent through the contact form are kept so we can answer them and keep a record.
Server logs
Our hosting providers (Vercel and Cloudflare) keep standard request logs, including IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running. These are kept for a short time and are not used to identify visitors.
Cookies
filesea itself uses only the report cookie above and one that remembers your cookie choice. Advertising partners set their own cookies only if you choose “Accept all”. See the cookies page to read more or change your choice. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Third parties
When you follow a link to a file host, you are on the host’s site and its privacy policy applies. We do not send your personal data to hosts.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Because we do not link searches or clicks to people, this usually only applies to copyright notices you have sent us. To make a request, see our contact page.
Changes
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top of this page.
